Cookies
Jareka Solutions may use cookies on the Websites it operates. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer's hard drive by our servers to identify your computer to our servers. Except for your IP Address, no personally identifiable information stored in the Jareka cookies will be shared with outside companies for any purpose without your permission.
Security
Jareka Solutions has established safeguards to help prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of your Jareka information, but cannot guarantee that your personally identifiable information will never be disclosed in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy (for example, in the event of unauthorized acts by third parties that violate applicable law or the policies of Jareka or Jareka Solutions. To protect your privacy and security, Jareka Solutions uses passwords to help verify your identity before granting access or making corrections to any of your Jareka information. These passwords are encrypted in a way which prevents them from being accessed by anyone including all Jareka Solutions employees. If you forget or misplace your Jareka password, an email will be sent to the email address on record with instructions on how to set a new password.
There are three common ways to encrypt a password. The first is to cryptographically hash your password. The hash is irreversible and you cannot convert it back into a password. However, putting a password through the hashing algorithm will always result in the same hash. The second is to encrypt using a key. If you know the key you can decrypt the data. The third is a combination of both. By using a hash of your password and combining it with a temporary key the hash is one way encrypted, only someone that previously has the hash of the password and repeating the combining with the temporary key will be able to make a comparison. This allow a very safe password authentication where not even hash of the password need to be transmitted.
In order to protect your account information we use method three where possible and store only a modified hash of your Jareka password on our servers - not the password nor the hash of the password if it can be avoided. Whenever you log into Jareka you DO NOT send us your Jareka password, you send a hash combined with a temporary key which is compared to our stored modified hash that is combined with the temporary key in order to authenticate you. Third party solutions like a forum may not use this and instead only support method one, where possibly these will be improved to use method three. Depending on the product and whether it is online or offline, one or more of the above three methods may be used.
If our entire system is compromised (and there are MANY precautions to prevent that) the data is useless to a hacker. Your Jareka password is not stored on our system and that is the only thing which can be used to access your account and details.
This security comes with a little inconvenience. If you forget your Jareka password we can not retrieve it for you, as stated earlier you are the only one that know your password, it is technically impossible for us to retrieve it. You will be sent an email at the registered email account on file with instructions on how to reset it. On the page where you reset your password, you will need to re-enter or enter a new password for your account. With some of our products you may be given the option to enter certain information and store it encrypted, forgetting your password will make this information un-retrieveable and you will need to re-enter it again after you have chosen a new password.
This is nothing new and we're not revealing anything compromising about our security practices. We want to be open with our users and felt you should know what is being done to secure your data. Any security expert will vouch for the fact that this is exactly what we SHOULD be doing. Rest assured that your data is safe and we'll always do our best to keep it that way.
